AGED LADY CALLED BY DEATH.
Another grand old lady of Eagle county was called to her reward on Monday afternoon, when Mrs. Rejine Isley CLARK died at the home of her son, John CLARK, on Brush creek at the advance age of 81 years.
Mrs. CLARK was one of God's own women, kindly, a good neighbor, wife and a devoted mother, she was greatly beloved by her own family and admired and respected by her neighbors.
Rejine ISLEY was born in Webb City, Ark. March 27, 1859, and died at Eagle, Colo., December 23, 1940. She grew to young womanhood in the city of her nativity, and in 1874 was married to r. W. J. CLARK in Webb City, and the couple lived a happy, ideal married life until the death of her husband at Gypsum in 1918.
Together with Mr. CLARK, the deceased came to Eagle county in 1916, settling in Gypsum valley. He, however was not to enjoy his new home long, passing away in September of the following year. Since that time, Mrs. CLARK lived with some one of her children, passing her last years with a son, John, on Brush Creek. She enjoyed good heath with the advancing years, until two or thee years ago, she suffered a broken hip in a fall at her home. Since that time she was confined to a chair or bed. During the past few months she had failed rapidly, and it was apparent for several days before the end that death was near.
She was the mother of ten children, of whom five survive. Pierce, of Gypsum, Colo.; Bud, of Redland, Okla.; Alan and John of Eagle; and Mrs. Ned SIXKILLER, of Gypsum. All were present at her bedside during the last moments of life, with the exception of Bud, who did not arrive until after the funeral.
Besides her immediate family, she reared two grandchildren, Edith PATTISAL, who died in 1917, and Mrs. Crystal HURD of Pueblo. In addition to her children, there survive many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom loved and revered a grand old lady, and will miss her presence.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church with Rev. F. W. CASSELMAN delivering the last message from the pulpit. In charge of Mortician Paul ANDRE, burial services were held in Gypsum, where the body, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives, was laid to rest beside that of her beloved husband.
