BERTHA McCAIN DIED MONDAY.
Mrs. Bertha McCAIN, mother of Howard McCAIN, publisher of the Eagle Valley Enterprise, died suddenly, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs Monday morning.
Mrs. McCAIN, who was 83 years of age, first became ill last February, and entered the Glenwood hospital then. Upon her release, she moved from her apartment in the Morgan Manor Hotel, to the home of her son. Last Wednesday she re-entered the hospital for treatment and was believed to be progressing satisfactorily, when death claimed her Monday morning.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Eagle Friday afternoon at 2:30. Arrangements are in charge of Bowman Mortuary, Eagle.
If friends so desire, a contribution to the Methodist Church memorial fund may be made in lieu of flowers.

Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Daniel CLARK in the Eagle Community Methodist Church Friday afternoon, May 8, for Mrs. Bertha McCAIN, who passed away in the Glenwood hospital May 4.
Mrs. Glen CHAMBERS and Mrs. Harry LONG provided organ and vocal music.
Burial in Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle, was conducted by the Bowman Mortuary of Eagle.
Pallbearers were Fred COLBY, Melvin EATON, Don KNUPP, Harold HELMS, Wm. STANLEY, and Harry LEWIS.
Bertha Catherine MILLER was born in Pottsville, Pa., August 22, 1875 to Catherine Schrader MILLER and Wm. MILLER. As a small child she came to Leadville, Colo. with her parents, where she attended school and grew to womanhood.
On August 3, 1904, she was married to Delmar W. McCAIN in Denver. To this union were born two children, Howard D. and Grace.
Mrs. McCAIN and her two children moved to Eagle in about 1913, living with her sister, the late Mrs. Gertrude SHERMAN. About five years later the McCAINs moved to Denver.
Mrs. McCAIN returned to Eagle to live in the early '30s remaining here until her death.
She is survived by her son of Eagle; her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur STARK of Los Angeles; one sister, Mrs. Grace LITTLE of Salt Lake City, Utah, nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. McCAIN's sister, Mrs. LITTLE and husband Charley; their sons, Walter and Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence LITTLE all of Salt Lake, a nephew, Wm. MELDRUM and wife of Denver; a nephew, George NIMON of Littleton and his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy HOSTETTER of Sheephorn and Englewood; a granddaughter, Mrs. Patricia CERISE and husband,Alvin of Basalt.
