DONALD ROSS CHAMBERS 1941 - 1999.Donald Ross CHAMBERS, formerly of Eagle and Owatonna, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 3, after an extended illness. Services were held Monday, March 8 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Aurora, with graveside services in Eagle the same day. A memorial service is set for Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Owatonna.
CHAMBERS was born Dec.9, 1941 in Eagle to Ross and Alice CHAMBERS. He grew up on the family ranch. He graduated from Colorado State University, where he studied agriculture. After college, he moved back to Eagle, where he worked on the family ranch and became president of the Eagle County Farm Bureau.
He married Janet BARTSCH in 1970 before moving to North Platte, Neb., where their son Brock was born in 1973.
He met his second wife, Kathleen JOHNSON, in Curtis, Neb., while teaching at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. They later moved to Gothenburg, Neb., where he manufactured electrical fences, and their son Ross was born in 1981.
CHAMBERS later moved to Owatonna, Minn., where he worked with several companies related to agriculture, including American Breeders Service, Tri-State Breeders, the county extension office, and Northland Farm Systems. In 1996 he purchased a The Kitchen, a restaurant in Owatonna. CHAMBERS was active in agriculture, the church, and the Republican Party.
He is survived by two sons, Brock, of Denver, and Ross, of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Loren CHAMBERS of Carr, Colo.; two sisters, Shirley FESSENDEN, of Murrieta, Calif., and Donna SALOMONSON, of Berthoud, Colo.; step-mother Jessie CHAMBERS of Lakewood; step-sister LaDOnna WAGONER of Lakewood; aunts and numerous nieces and nephews.
