James "Papa Jim" Lauber, 83, of Littleton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 6, 2016 due to a lengthy illness.
Born March 7, 1933 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, to Urban Simon and Mary Louise (White) Lauber, Jim graduated with a BA in English from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. After serving in the United States Army, he married Louise Gladys Haga on September 26, 1959 in Allendale, New Jersey. Jim worked for many years in advertising/sales. Jim enjoyed fly fishing, skiing, model airplanes, rockhounding, prospecting and camping.
Jim moved to the Yampa Valley in April 2007 after his wife passed away from cancer. He enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, skiing, model airplanes, rock hounding, prospecting and camping. Jim was happy in Phippsburg amongst his wonderful neighbors. He joined South Routt Bible Church where he was an active member. He volunteered with Awana and Horsemanship Bible Camp serving community youth.
Jim is survived by his children, Eric (Ana) Lauber of Lakewood, Colorado and Christine (Larry) Schaecher of Centennial, Colorado; grandchildren, Jonathan and Christian Lauber and Nicholas and Annika Schaecher. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Gladys Lauber and sister, Cornelia "Mimi" Lauber.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Routt Bible Church in Phippsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's memory be made to South Routt Bible Church, P O Box 792, Oak Creek, CO 804670792, (970) 736 8422.
Final Resting Place will be Fort Logan National Cemetery and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
