Terry Randall Schulte

Surrounded by family and close friends, Terry Randall Schulte passed on February 22, 2016, at the age of 69, after a long battle with leukemia. Terry was born on February 11, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Delbert Anthony and Lucille Mabel Eastman) Schulte. He spent his childhood in Oakland, California, where he graduated from Fremont High School. He served in the US Army from June 1965 to December 1973, where he served in Korea, Germany, Vietnam, as well as stateside. Terry was part of the Vietnam Counteroffensive Phases III, IV, V, VII, and the Tet Counteroffensive. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, Airborne Jump Wings, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Presidential Citation Air Medal, and a Combat Infantry Badge. On August 17, 1974, Terry married Kathryn Jean Millett in Hayward, California. Terry and Kathryn have been residents of the Grand Valley for the past 40 years. He spent most of his life in service to others as a police and corrections officer. He also worked in the gas and oil industry and destroyed chemical weapons on Johnston Atoll. Terry enjoyed photography, fishing, golf, hunting, supporting Dance Works students, loving his grandchildren, and spending time with his family. His friends and family will miss Terry’s infectious laughter and smile, sense of humor, and tremendously warm hugs. Terry is survived by his wife, Kathryn Jean Schulte; daughters, April (Kevin) Schulte-Barclay; Crystal (Scott Heinsma) Schulte- Onsrud, and Rachel (Ryan) Schulte-Hogge; his grandchildren, Jalen, Hunter and Conner Onsrud, and Adam and RubyJean Schulte-Barclay, all of Grand Junction, Colorado. Interment is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. A Celebration of Life will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016. A reception will follow the celebration. Terry Randall Schulte, 69, Grand Junction, died Feb. 22, 2016, in Grand Junction. Interment will take place at 3 p.m. March 4 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. March 5 at Canyon View Vineyard Church. Mr. Schulte worked in law enforcement.Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Jean Millett Schulte; three daughters, April Schulte-Barclay, Crystal Schulte-Onsrud, and Rachel Schulte-Hogge, all of Grand Junction; and five grandchildren.
