ED GLENN DIES ON COAST.
ONE OF THE PIONEER BUSINESS AND MINING MEN OF EAGLE COUNTY.
One of the earliest residents of Eagle died when Ed GLENN, 83,passed away at the home of his sister, Lou GLENN, his only surviving relative, in San Diego, Calif., according to work received here by his step-son, Ralph BELDING, Monday. Mr. GLENN died the previous day, Sunday.
Ed GLENN was first attracted to this county by the mining camp at Fulford when that camp was at the boom stage, and later married Mrs. BELDING who owned the store located on the site in the same building now occupied by Rule electric. The business was known as E. E. Glenn & Co., and was for years one of the leading mercantile concerns of this part of the county. The firm handled farm implements, and was in fact a"general merchandise" store where you could buy anything from a toothpick to a threshing machine.
When silver ore was discovered on Horse Mountain by Oscar KEMP, Mr.GLENN was in on the strike, and while thousands of dollars were taken from the property, the original holders of the property did not profit greatly by it.
In 1935 he retired from business Ralph BELDING taking over the store, and Mr.GLENN went to California. He suffered an accident shortly after going to San Diego,from which he had since suffered.
Mr. GLENN was long one of the community's most active and progressive citizens and no history of the valley could be written without including an account of his life included in it.
