Walter J. “Wally” Fox, 71 of Red Cliff, Colorado passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born on June 24, 1945 to John E. and Ethel (Pearson) Fox. He married Janice Fox who preceded him in death.
Walter graduated from Fruita High School in Fruita, Colorado and served in the United States Air Force. He worked at the Vail Post Office, the First Bank of Vail and at CapCo Tile. He also served as the Mayor of Red Cliff, was a town council member of Red Cliff and worked at the Water Waste Treatment Plant. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and was an all around outdoor person. After he retired, he enjoyed cooking. He loved getting together with friends and family.
Walter is survived by his son Arthur; daughters Julie, Jacky and Jennifer (James); brother Russell; sister Esta and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Loren and brother Edward.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bailey-Kent Funeral Home in Leadville, Colorado. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Parish Church in Minturn, Colorado with Reverend Father Jim Baird officiating. Inurnment will follow the Mass at Greenwood Cemetery in Red Cliff with a reception to follow at the Red Cliff Elementary School.
