James Francis Hoke
June 2, 1943 - March 2, 2016
Jim was born in Evansville, IN on June 2, 1943, to Norma Jeanne Hallmark, and died peacefully in his sleep on March 2, 2016.
He spent his youth in Collbran, Colorado where he grew up on a ranch with his brother, Bill, and sister, Sherry. He later entered the Marine Corps at the age of 17, he always sad that was the best time of his life. He earned the
Good Conduct Meal and traveled the United States as well as
around the world. He was honorably discharged in 1965, later
serving 20 years in the Army National Guard of Colorado and
Army Reserve.
In 1966, he met and married Ronica D. Kreighbaum. The
couple moved to Aurora, Colorado shortly after where he
entered the Colorado State Patrol School and completed their
Traffic Police Training Course in December, 1967. Later, they
moved back to Grand Junction, had two children, Jeanie, and
Wade, and Jim worked for CDOT for 31 years and then retired.
Jim enjoyed being outdoors whether he was working or
relaxing (which was rare). He loved horseback riding, hiking,
working in his yard, and riding his four wheeler with his
grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Ronica; daughter, Jeanie; son,
Wade (Jeni); grandson, Hunter James, and granddaughter,
Baillie; brother, William (Velda) Hoke of Missouri, and his
beloved dog, Herby.
Rest peacefully dad, we love you, miss you and will see you
again someday.
