Sarah B. MATHER, Eagle County's "first lady" passed away Nov. 5, at the Kremmling hospital, following an illness of several months.
Mrs. MATHER, who was 92 years of age at the time of her death, was born Sept. 14, 1862 at Nova Scotia, Canada.
She was married to John MATHER in Breckenridge, Colo., June 29, 1886. Mr. and Mrs. MATHER were among the first settlers in that section of Eagle County and the family still maintain home on the original Mather ranch.
The MATHER family played a prominent part in the development of that section of Colorado.
After Mr. MATHER's death, she remained on Sheephorn, making her home with her son, John and his wife, Pearl.
Mrs. MATHER is survived by her son, John; and two daughters, Martha McGEE of Grass Creek, Wyo. and Margaret BLAKESLEY of Thermopolis, Wyo., and ten grandchildren.
Funeral service were conducted by Rev. GIBSON of Kremmling Nov. 6, and she was laid to rest in the Sheephorn cemetery.
