Frank J. Loriss
April 25, 1932 - April 2, 2016
Frank J. Loriss passed away
with his wife at his bedside on
April 2, 2016, at the Grand
Junction VA.
Frank was born April 25,
1932, to Katherine and
Nicholas Loriss in Chicago,
IL. Nicholas died in 1941;
Katherine remarried Herbert
Godes, Frank’s step-father.
Frank served in the US
Army. Shortly after, he married Dorothy, known as “the love of
his life.”
Frank was a truck driver. He loved being behind the wheel and
found peace being on the road. In 1982 he bought a dump truck,
a “Mack” which he said was the “best.” He started his own
business, FJL Trucking. He worked for various construction
companies in the Valley. Due to health reasons, Frank retired in
1992. He missed driving a truck every day of his life after
retiring. It truly was his second love after family.
Frank was a loving husband, father, and friend to all who knew
him. He was always there to lend a hand. He will be missed and
will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, and
two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters,
Carol Meyer and Karen (Rick) Hevel; son, Frank (Judy) Loriss,
Jr.; grandchildren, Justin and Sara Hevel, Mike Meyer and
Jason Loriss, and great-grandchildren, Jessica Meyer, Zanna,
Addie and Skyler Loriss.
In lieu of flowers, please made a donation to Alzheimer’s
Association, HopeWest Hospice, or GJVA CLC.
