Lonnie Allen Kawcak was born September 9, 1951 in Craig, Colorado to Michael J. and Colleen E. (Ogg) Kawcak. He died September 12, 2016 at The Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. Lonnie grew up in Craig, Colorado. He attended and graduated from Moffat County High School in 1969. Lonnie continued his education at Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture in 1971. Lonnie married Lorraine Thomas on November 26, 1978. They shared over 37 years of marriage, and to this union they were blessed to have raised 2 boys, Blaine Michael and Blake Allen. Lonnie was very much looking forward to becoming a grandfather in January. Lonnie’s true passion in life was being a hardware retailer. He founded MJK Sales and Feed, Inc. with his father and mother in 1976. He owned and operated MJK for 40 years. Along the way he had been in business
with his parents, his two brothers, and his son Blake. At the time of his death he was still running MJK Sales and Feed, Inc. with Lorraine and his son Blaine. Lonnie thoroughly loved to hunt, fish, and play the game of golf. He also loved to travel. He enjoyed watching football and helping the boys with their cows and haying business. In January 2014 a nodule was found in his left lung. It was diagnosed as Small Cell Lung Cancer in July of 2014. Lonnie spent the next 2 years undergoing treatment for the cancer. He had surgery on his lung and 2 surgeries on his brain. He received chemo treatments and numerous radiation treatments. He fought a hard fight and was very optimistic during this time. Lonnie is survived by his wife Lorraine, children Blaine (Kelsey), and Blake (Tyshanna) and grandson due in January. Father, Mike Kawcak, Mother inlaw Rose Thomas, Brothers Kenny (Michelle) and Mike Jr. (Susie), brother inlaw Stephen (Allison)
Thomas, and sister inlaw Linda (Stuart) Arnold, Aunt Eva (Leonard) Robertson, Uncles Bob Kawcak, Dan Kawcak, Ivan (Regina), and Paul Kawcak, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Colleen Kawcak, his sister Patricia, Father inlaw Blaine Thomas, nephew Jason Kawcak, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 with interment following in Craig Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Moffat County Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
