Frances Elaine Anderson passed away peacefully on August 21, 2016 in Grand Junction, Colorado surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born on June 7, 1928 to Ralph J. and Vivian Churches in Los Angeles, California where her parents were visiting family. Elaine was the fourth of seven children and attended schools in Golden, Colorado.

Elaine met Ernest W. Anderson (son of John W. and Gwendolyn Anderson) on the day Ernie returned home from WWII, and they were married in Denver in 1946. Elaine and Ernie started their life together in Golden where Ernie worked in construction for Coors Brewing Company and Elaine worked in the Coors Porcelain Plant.

Elaine and Ernie moved to Steamboat Springs in 1959 as the new owners of the Ski-Vu Motel. In 1962, they purchased Steamboat Floral and Greenhouse. Elaine and Ernie owned Steamboat Floral and Greenhouse for approximately 20 years. After selling the floral business, Elaine worked at Routt County National Bank until Elaine and Ernie permanently retired to Grand Junction in 1992.

Elaine and Ernie loved sports and were avid fans and supporters of the local junior high and high school athletic events. Elaine was a mentor to many, and she will be remembered for her honesty, integrity, wisdom, warm heart, sense of humor, exceptional cooking, and her love of flowers and gardening. Elaine always put others first. Family and friends were always welcome in the Anderson home, and there was always room for one more at the table. Elaine loved and was devoted to her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Elaine is survived by her daughters Pam (Joel) McKeehen of Loma, Colorado, and Janet (Scott) Hartwigsen of Fort Collins, Colorado; two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie. At Elaine’s request, there will be no services. A private remembrance will be held at a later date.
