Kathleen Belle Hawkins, 95, Redlands Mesa, died March 16,
2016, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Eckert Presbyterian
Church. Interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, John; one son, Dan of Redlands Mesa; two daughters, Sharon MacKendrick of Molan, New Mexico, and Laura J. Donovan of Delta; one brother, Don Rowell of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Kathleen Belle Hawkins passed away peacefully March 16, 2016, at Horizon’s Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at Eckert Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Hawkins officiating, followed by Internment at Cedaredge Cemetery in Cedaredge, Colorado, then a pot luck reception at the Redlands Mesa Grange Hall at 1:30 p.m.
Kathleen Belle Hawkins was born on March 2, 1921, to Wilbur
Spaulding Rowell and Thelma B. Stillwagen Rowell in Green
River, Utah. She spent her childhood between Green River and Moab, eventually graduating from Moab Grand County High School in 1939. Kathleen was a resident of Redlands Mesa since 1949.
On November 4, 1942, Kathleen married John Wilburn
Hawkins in Berkley, California. From this union three children
were born.
She was a newspaper editor and a bookkeeper. Kathleen had
many hobbies and interests. She loved writing, rescuing stray
cats, and she was also a very good artist, however, her passion was to spend quality time with her kids and grandkids. She belonged to several clubs, including the Redlands Mesa
Community Club, Redlands Mesa Grange, the Upper Surface
Creek Domestic Water Users association, and the Sage Dome
Watercolorists.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; greatgranddaughter, Danielle Ziegler; brother, Ben, and four sisters, Delores, Adelaide, June, and Anna Laurie.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Hawkins; son,
Dan (Helen) Hawkins of Redlands Mesa; daughters, Sharon
MacKendrick of Milan, New Mexico; Laura J. Donovan of
Delta, Colorado, along with her brother, Dan Rowell (Virginia)
of Boise, ID; six grandchildren, two adopted grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor
Funeral Service and Crematory.
