Funeral Services Held Saturday For Mrs. Sandelin
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Root-Heyer mortuarv for Mrs. Jennie Sandelin, with Rev. Nelson Hill of the Congregational church officiating. Ben Gilbert, accompanied by Mrs. Gilbert sang "Where the Gates Swung Outward Never", and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells For You and Me". The pallbearers were Russell Ohman, Rube Padgett, Chester Hitchens, Fred Foster, Harland Harmon and Henry Robinson, all old friends of the family. Mrs. Sandelin was laid to rest beside her husband Charles Sandelin who preceded her in death the same month in 1925. Johanna Christine Radstrom was born near Harronsand, Sweden, July 28, 1871, where she remained with her parents till attaining the age of 16 when she decided to come to America. She made the trip across the Atlantic by herself and after meeting her uncle In New
York, she then came to Holdrege, Nebr., to make her home and finished her schooling which was very difficult as she had to learn the English language first. She then went to Denver where she was employed by Mrs. H. A. W. Tabor or Baby Doe as she was known. She became a very intimate of the Tabor household with the care of Silver Dollar being her prime responsibility. Jennie was with the Tabors thruout the rise and fall of the Silver King, and Baby Doe had arranged to send her to northern Sweden for a team of reindeer, however, the Tabor fortunes dwindled and the trip was never made. Jennie Radstrom was united m marriage to Charles Sandelin in 1892 at Denver. In 1894 she made a trip back to Sweden to visit relatives and friends. Mrs. Sandelin often related the colorful davs of the mining town of Central City, Cripple Creek and Black Hawk where her husband wrs interested in mining. She came with her husband and family in a covered wagon to Steamboat Springs m 1908 and has made her home here since.
Mrs . Sandelin was a member of the Congregational church and the order of the Roval Neighbors. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Carl and John Sandelin of Steamboat Springs, Mrs. Hazel Cramer of Hayden and LoReroy Sandelin of Denver, ten grand children and nieces and nephews.
