Mary JoAnne Kline
September 10, 1939 - March 19, 2016
Mary J. Kline, 76, passed away Saturday, March 19, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mary was born on September 10, 1939, to Steve and Mary Petcoff in Lafayette, Colorado. She spent her childhood in Denver, where she graduated from East High School. She attended Colorado State
University in Ft. Collins in 1957. She met her future husband,
Bob, there. They moved to Denver for a short time while Bob
worked for the Bureau of Land Management. They spent time at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, while Bob was in the army. They moved to Canon City where they adopted their oldest son, Michael. Bob was transferred to Grand Junction with the BLM in 1962. Their youngest son, David, was born in 1966.
Mary was a member of the Retired Federal Employees Assoc.,
and a Telephone Coordinator for the AARP Driver Safety
Program on the western slope. She worked at the Rim Rock
Book Store, Mesa College Book store and the Cedar Square Inn.
She was a league secretary for numerous ladies bowling and
golf leagues. Mary volunteered at the Red Cross, Colorado
Visitors Center in Fruita. She spent a lot of time at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church as a volunteer.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; two sons, Mike of Loma
and David of San Francisco; two granddaughters, Lisa and
Christa, both of Grand Junction; a sister-in-law, Patti Petcoff of
Parker, CO; two nephews and a niece.
A funeral mass will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church
on Wednesday, March 30, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a lunch
and interment at 3:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
