George Bryant Ward, a well-known Vail resident who moved to town in 1968, died on Sunday. He was 64.

Ward was born in Fordyce, Arkansas on March 26, 1939, and lived most recently in Denver, where he died of natural causes.

George is survived by his former wife, Shirley; sons Richard Ward of Denver; and Scott Ward of Omaha, Nebraska. Twin daughters, Stacey Ward of Denver, and Stephanie Ward, a teacher at Battle Mountain High School; his brother Lace Ward of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Joann Barnes and Ginny Lou Keaton of Fordyce; and grandson, Cole Braeden Ward of Omaha.

A service will be held in Denver at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Horan & McConahey Mortuary, 1091 S. Colorado Boulevard (just off Interstate 25) at Colorado & Mississippi.

Following the service, George's family invites his friends to join them in a celebration and toast to one of Vail's more colorful pioneers, at Chopper's Sports Grill, 80 S. Madison, just off 1st Avenue in Cherry Creek.

George Bryant Ward passed away on Monday, August 11. George moved to Vail in 1968, and was a well-known and good friend to many Vailites. He was born in Fordyce, Arkansas on March 26, 1939, and lived most recently in Denver where he died of natural causes.

George is survived by his former wife, Shirley; his sons, Richard of Denver and Scott, USAF, Omaha; twin daughters , Stacey of Denver and Stephanie, an ESL teacher at BHMS; his brother Lace of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Joann Barnes and Jenny Lou Keaton of Fordyce, and his 8-month grandson, Cole Braeden Ward of Omaha.

A service will be held on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Denver at the Horan & McConahey Mortuary, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard (just of I-25) at Colorado and Mississippi.
