William Arthur Gould, 81, of Edwards, passed away peacefully with his family at his side May 30 at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.Gould was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Hawthorne, N.J., to Henry and Myrtle (McDonald) Gould.He was in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy McCann Oct. 19, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y. They had four children. He and his family were longtime residents of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., before coming to Colorado. Gould was a Vail Valley resident for the past 26 years. He was a member of the VFW and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Gould was president of Hose-McCann Corporation before his retirement. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Dorothy Gould; sons, William A. (Shawn) Gould Jr.; his sons and Robert K. Gould (Nina Stack); his daughters, Veronica G.( Richard) Ogden and Patricia Maxwell (Kenneth) Freidman; her daughter, eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Ogden.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Vail Valley Hospital or the David Ogden Memorial Scholarship fund at Blair Academy, Blairstown, N.J. 07825.Farnum-Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.Vail, Colorado
