Jennie A. Rivera died April 3 at the Life Care Center of Westminster. She was 82.

Rivera was born in Ojo Sarco, N.M. Jan. 24, 1924. Her parents were the late Augustin & Adelina (Romero) Armijo.Rivera went to school in Ojo Sarco and then married Nicanor T. Rivera in Albuquerque. Together, they had six children before moving to Minturn in 1956, where Mr. Rivera went to work for the New Jersey Zinc Co. at the Gilman Mine.

Riveras full-time job was raising her family. She loved flowers and feeding the birds, as well as singing and dancing. Her husband was a very good accordion player, and the two oftern entertained the family with their music and dancing.A member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Minturn, Rivera was devoted to her church. Four years ago, Rivera moved to Westminster where she was a resident at the Life Care Center.

Rivera is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nicanor, who died in 1987 and one sister, Cidelia Aguilar. She is survived by her children Eleanor (Juan) Roybal, in Phoenix, AZ, Betty (Robert) Gallegos, in Denver, Tony (Ruth) Padilla, Denver, Cecilia (Rudy) Sandoval, in Leadville, Jessie (Amado) Lovato, in Redcliff and Elaine (Robert) Martinez, in Minturn; one brother, Nestor (Georgia) Armijo, in Santa Fe, N.M.; three sisters, Helen Sanchez, in Santa Fe, Petronila Pacheco, in Penasco, N.M. and Melva Medina, in Butte, Mont. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services were Thursday at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Minturn; a Mass of Christian Burial is set for today at 10 a.m.., also at St. Patricks Church. Father Hugh Guentner, O.S.B. will officiate and Antonio Ortega will be singing. Eulogies will be given by Michael Martinez, Bobbi Gallegos, Alexandria Klein and Ray Lovato.

Rivera will be laid to rest next to her husband in Riverview Cemetery in Minturn. Pallbearers will be Michael Martinez, Carl & Steven Sandoval, Christopher Gallegos, Ray and Amado Lovato, Rick & Joseph Roybal and Michael Paul Padilla.Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Funeral Home in Leadville.
