Kenneth Verle Topliss, 80, Grand Junction, died June 3, 2016,
at HopeWest and Hospice Care Center.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church.
He was a heavy equipment operator and a Red Cross volunteer.
Survivors include his wife, Ardella; two sons, Kenny, and Bill
Braz; seven stepdaughters, Debra Albertson, Renee Watt, Cindy Altenbern, Barb Sires, Andrea Edwards, Marna Achterberg, and Sharon Bruns; two brothers, Jim Topliss and Alfred Topliss; one sister, Pat Miracle; two stepsisters, Lorraine Daggett and Jeannie Ames; 27 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Verle Topliss, age 80, died June 3, 2016, peacefully at the HopeWest Hospice Center.
Ken was born December 23, 1935, in Montrose, Colorado to Verle Harley Topliss and Laura May Boyer. He attended a Denver high school,went to work and later got his GED.
Ken was a heavy equipment operator for 47 years. He also
volunteered at the Red Cross for eight years. He was deployed to help people during several disasters.
Ken was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He had been
an elder for many years and a greeter on Sundays.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and the Denver
Broncos.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepmother, Eileen Topliss.
Ken is survived by his spouse, Ardella; sons, Kenny Topliss
and Bill Braz; step-daughters, Debra Albertson (Kim), Renee
Watt, Cindy Altenbern, Barb Sires (Todd), Andrea Edwards
(Bruce), Marna Achterberg (Gus), and Sharon Bruns (Brian);
brothers, Jim, and Alfred; sisters, Pat Miracle, Lorraine Daggett, and Jeannie Ames; 27 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren.
Memorial services will be Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.
at Messiah Lutheran Church 840 N. 11th St., Grand Junction,
Colorado.
Donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice, Red Cross or
Messiah Lutheran Church and School.
