Vail Trail - August 16, 2000

Longtime Vail local and ski photographer Bruce Barthel died Sunday after a long battle with cancer. He was 59. Bruce skied Vail in its first winter of operations, 1962-63, while a student at Denver University. He moved here th every next year and like many of Vail's early citizens, held many jobs, from patrolling to waiting tables at the REd Lion, to singing and playing the guitar at the Vail [missing].
