NEAL BROCK , 9 , DROWNED NEAR EDWARDS MONDAY AFTERNOON WHILE FISHING—WILL BE BURIED IN MINTURN FRIDAY . A very sad tragedy occurred at Edward s last Monday evening when Robert Neal Brock , 9 year old son of Mr . and Mrs . Noble Brock of Minturn was drowned in the Eagle river , along the banks of which stream the lad had been playing all afternoon . The Brock family lives in Minturn , Mr . Brock being employed in the mine at Gilman . Mondav Neal was visiting the John Dilly family , who live at Edwards , and he and the Dilly boys and John Wellington had been swimming and fishing in the river all afternoon . The swimming hole is just below the mouth of Berry creek , and the deep water is marked by a pole , beyond which the boys had not adventured during
the time they were in the water . They had quit swimming and John Wellington had gone home . Neal was fishing from the river bank in the deeper water above the swimming hole when he dropped his pole into the water . In attempting to get the pole he fell into the water . He was pulled under by a strong under current and did not reappear . The Dilly boys ran home and informed their father , John Dilly , of what had happened . Mr . Dilly rushed to the scene and after two or three diving attempts found the body and brought it out . Every means were used to bring back life , but it could not be done . Dr . Knepper of Gilman was summoned and arrived promptly , but life in the child s bodv was extinct and no effort could
bring it back . The body was brought to Eagle by Paul Andre of the Andre Mortuary where it was prepared for burial , and funeral services will be held in Minturn from the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 2 : 00 o clock .
