FLOYD BROOKS DIED SUDDENLY FRIDAY
Floyd Brooks, 43 year old Gypsum man died suddenly at his home Friday morning, February 15 of a heart attapk- Mr. Brooks had suffered a heart ailment for some time, and had been confined to his home during the week, following an attack the previous Monday. His death came as a shock to the community.

Mr. and Mrs. Brooks had lived in Gypsum since the spring of 1944, when he joined the staff of the Holy Cross Electric Association, in charge of the Gypsum power plant, and also employed as lineman. During his residence in Gypsum, he and his wife rook active leads in various church and community affairs

Born to Jaspar E. and Russie Burke Brooks in Tulia, Texas, September 3, 1908, Mr- Brooks came to Colorado with his family in 1918 to the Rifle and Meeker area. He attended high school in Meeker, and July 4, 1928 he married Mable Trusty at Meeker To this union were born two children, Ila Marie and Harold.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Eagle Monday afternoon by Rev. Otto Duckworth of Rifle- Mr. Brooks was a member of Castle Peak Masonic Lodge at Eagle, and Masonic committal services were conducted by the Lodge at the graveside by Dr. C. E. Miller of Rifle, close friend to the family. Burial was in the Glenwood cemetery, under the direction of Bowman Funeral Chapel of Eagle.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs Mable Brooks; two children, Ila Marie Gerbaz of Fowler and a son, Harold of the U- S- Air Force currently stationed at Topeka. Kansas: his father. J.E. Brooks, Rifle; two sisters. Velma Urquhart, Rifle and Louise Frazier, Brownsville, Tex-; and three brothers, Arliss and Stanley of Rifle and Lawrence of Glenwood. One grandchild, Janice Marie Gerbaz also survives. His mother preceded him in deathFuneral music was furnished by Mrs Elmer Lundgren at the piano and Mrs- Wayne Haggart and Mrs- Grant BraUier in vocal duets. Pall bearers were Leland Hahn. Elmer Lundgren, L.W. Simmons, Le Roy Borah, George Thurston and James Stephens. Mrs. Frazier was the only relative of Mr. Brooks unable to attend the service and Mrs. Brooks’ father, Pat Trusty of Milton Freewater, Ore., and her brother, Chris Trusty of Council, Idaho, came for the funeral.
