Fred C. Schaefermeyer, 97, retired United States Air Force and past president of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, passed away on Oct. 9, 2016, in Wheat Ridge. He was born in Hayden on Jan. 28, 1919. A memorial service will be held at Arvada Presbyterian Church in Arvada at 2 p.m. on Nov. 11.
