Harry Joseph Carter was born in Leadville December 15, 1907, the son of Cora and Joseph Carter. he died in Canon City July 24. At the age of 8 years, he came with his parents to Squaw Creek in Eagle County. In 1927, he married Alice R. James of Edwards and they lived on Squaw Creek. To this union were born three daughters, Arzel, Marvell and Harriett.
In June 1942, the family moved to Leadville and Mr. Carter was employed by Climax Co. until 1948 when he entered the employ of Rio Grande Motorway and transferred 10 years later to Pueblo and then to Canon City where he lived until the time of his death. He was a member of Local Teamsters Union 146 and past Governor of Leadville Moose Lodge. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Mrs. Cora Carter of Eagle; three daughters, Arzel Limberis of Penrose; Marvell Lensch, Denver and Harriett Conway, Canon City; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers: Robert, Rusell and Samuel of Squaw Creek and Joe of Eagle; three sisters, Althea Terry of Portland; Buena Case, Eagle and Alma Case, Grand Junction, and an aunt, Mrs. Edith Fenno of Eagle .The funeral and burial were in Canon City July 28. Pallbearers were employees of the Rio Grande Motorway Lee Roper, L.D. Willford, H.R. McCormack, Bob Carlton, Russell Berry and Arden Wood.
