Billie Ann Cline, 75, a 46-year resident of Wolcott, died Aug. 13 at the Vail Valley Medical Center. Friends and family said she was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, quilting, macrame and crocheting and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eagle. She and her husband, Jimmie, lived quietly in their home along the banks of the Eagle River.A viewing will be held Tuesday, Aug. 17, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Farnum Hold Funeral Home Chapel at 405 W. 7th St. in Glenwood Springs. It will be followed by a private internment at the Riverview Cemetery in Minturn.She was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Stillwell, Okla., to Mac Beaver and Opal Palmer, and spent her childhood there.She is survived by her husband, Jimmie B. Cline; son Bruce Cline of Fayetteville, Tenn.; daughters Sandy Knuth of Montrose and Jackie Bear of Ninilchik, Alaska.; brothers Ralph and Donald Starr; and sisters Eva Harris of Eagle and Pauline Foral of Gypsum; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.Carolyn ‘Jake’ Edringtonwith pic in e-mailCarolyn “Jake” Edrington of Eagle died Saturday, Aug. 14, in Glenwood Springs at Valley View Hospital from a cardiac arrest. She was 59. “Jake,” as her family and friends often called her, had been recently diagnosed with chronic heart failure. Her family said Edrington, born and raised in Virginia, fell in love with the peace and serenity the Rocky Mountains provide and permanently moved out west to “God’s Country” in 1987.She married longtime Vail local Pete Edrington in 1989 and shared a home with him there until his death in 1995. She moved to Eagle shortly thereafter. She took over for Pete at Slifer, Smith and Frampton Real Estate, where she worked out of the Eagle Ranch office. Family and friends recall that Edrington was a proud Republican and active in local Eagle politics. Her Victorian home with a white picket fence and lively porch was always a sight for sore eyes around campaign time, they said.When Edrington wasn’t busy in real estate, she could be found often in her in her garden with Charlee and Prissy (golden retrievers) by her side or playing a game of bridge.Friends and family said Edrington will be remembered for her friendly and “spunky” personality, her many creative talents and her kind, considerate and unselfish ways. They said that they will miss her very much.Edrington is survived by her daughter, Connie Lynne-Ulrych, and family of Carbondale; her son, Brian Boguess, and his family of Livermore, Calif.; her father, Roy Jacobson, and his wife, Edith, of Forest, Va; and three grandchildren.Edrington will be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at her home in Eagle at noon. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations go to a local charity of the donor’s choice.Patricia ‘Patter’ D. BethkePatricia ‘Patter’ D. Bethke, 87, died Aug. 13 in Sarasota, Fla. She lived in Vail and Florida until two years ago, when she became a permanent resident of Sarasota.Born May 25, 1917, in Chicago, she graduated from the University of Chicago in 1937, and she was a member of the honorary Mortar Board Society. She married Robert H. Bethke of Chicago and was a homemaker and volunteer during much of her life. During World War II, she worked for the Office of Strategic Services in New York City, decoding secret messages.In Vail, she was active with the Colorado Ski Museum. Her hobbies included collecting antique folk art, skiiing, tennis, golf, sewing and needlework. She and her husband also traveled extensively together.She is survived by her sons Robert D. Bethke and wife Beth G. Anderson of Nokomis, Fla., and William M. Bethke and wife Susan of Mountain Lakes, N.J.; brother Milford H. Davis of Boulder; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
