HEART ATTACK TAKES TWO MORE COUNTY MEN.
Two more Eagle county men, each prominent in his respective community, died suddenly, 24 hours apart this week.
George STROHM, prominent resident of Gypsum, died in his home Tuesday evening of a heart attack. Mr. STROHM, long a resident of Eagle county, had suffered from the heart ailment and had been under a doctor's care, but his death was unexpected.
His funeral services will be in the Legion Hall in Gypsum Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. and burial will be in Gypsum. Services will be in charge of the American Legion Post 150, in which he was an active member. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Chapel, Eagle.
Mr. STROHM is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Gypsum and a daughter, Patricia NICHOLS of Manhattan, Kans.
Henry BERGER, 51, a resident of Eagle for more than twenty years and agent at the D & R G Depot here, suffered an attack early Wednesday evening, as he was mowing the lawn at his home in the depot. He died within a hour after the heart attack.
No funeral arrangements have been made to date, pending word from his son, Ensign Bob BERGER, who is with the Navy Air Corps somewhere on the Swedish coast. Bowman Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Mr. BERGER is survived by his wife, Lois; his son, Bob and one daughter, Beatrice LOVING of Denver.
The two deaths were similar to that of Byron D. PRICE in Minturn, a few days before, when Mr. PRICE died of a heart attack as he sat down to eat breakfast--each one a shock to many close friends--and each man will be deeply missed in his community--Gypsum, Eagle and Minturn, for they each held highly respected places in the esteem of his neighbors.

GEORGE A. STROHM SERVICES HELD SATURDAY.
American Legion services were held in Gypsum Saturday for the late George A. STROHM, Gypsum resident for the past 44 years.
Mr. STROHM died at his home September 23 of a heart attack.
George Andre STROHM, son of Amelia and David STROHM, was born at Carbondale, Colo. April 28, 1892 and spent his boyhood in the Carbondale vicinity, moving to Gypsum in 1908.
Mr. STROHM enlisted in the Army in 1917 and served in World War I, and following his return to the States, he married Miss Katherine FOSTER May 28, 1921, in Glenwood Springs.
The Strohms resided in Gypsum Valley, engaged in farming until 1940 when they moved into the town of Gypsum to live, and he continued with his farming operations. While living in town he served as mayor of Gypsum for ten years, and two years on the Town Council. He asked not to be nominated for mayor again this year due to failing health. During the time he served his town in an official capacity, he was instrumental in helping to secure a pure water supply for the town.
Mr. STROHM served on the upper Gypsum School Board while living in the Valley and on the Eagle County High School board. He had been a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows since 1916 and a member of the Rebekah Lodge for active in the affairs of the American Legion and a member of the 40 & 8.
Mr. STROHM was an outdoor man and a lover of sports, giving freely and supporting all school and church activities.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Katherine; a daughter, Patricia NICHOLSON; a sister, Marie KUTZ of Gypsum and a brother, John STROHM of Manhattan, Kansas. He was precede in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Rev. Delbert PAULSON of the Gypsum-Eagle Methodist Churches officiated at the funeral services, which were under the direction of Bowman Funeral Chapel.
