RAYMOND CARL HORN 1914-1994
Long-time McCoy area rancher Raymond HORN died at his home on Aug. 6. He was 80.
Born to Carl and Louise HORN on May 10, 1914 on a farm near Rock River, Wyo., Raymond grew up and spent his early years attending various schools in that area. He helped his parents run their farm after he graduated high school in 1949, and later moved with the family to a ranch near Golden Gate Canyon near Golden, Colo. While there, he met Rose RAMSTETTER, whom he married on Nov. 30, 1952.
The couple continued to live on the Horn family ranch, where they kept 25 dairy cows. Their first three sons, Carl, Gary and Dale, were also born there.
The Horn family sold the Golden Gate Canyon Ranch in 1964, and Ray and Rose purchased their own cattle operation north of McCoy where their fourth son, Glen, was born.
In 1980 Ray handed the cattle operation over to his sons after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
Survivors include: his wife, Rose HORN; sons Carl, Gary, Dale and Glen; sister Esther BANZHOF; grandchildren C. J. HORN, Chelsea Rose HORN, Adam James HORN, and Nathan Levi HORN.
Services were held at the McCoy Community Church with the Rev. Glen HOFECKER officiating. Pallbearers were Carry BANGHOF, Vern BETES, and Gordon, Kenneth, Charlie and Richard RAMSTETTER. Burial was at McCoy Community Cemetery.
