Pastor Byron A. Blecha, 98, of Grand Junction, passed away August 3, 2016. He was born August 19, 1917, in Wellington, KS to Edmund and Dayse (Plumleigh) Blecha. He was ordained as a minister of the Seventh-day Adventist church in 1949, and retired in 1989. Byron moved to the Western Slope in 1978, and pastored churches in Grand Junction, Rifle, and Glenwood Springs. In retirement he preached often at the Fruita and Palisade churches. He placed the highest value on relationships with God, family, and friends. He was passionate about the work of spreading the Good News of God’s love and free salvation. He was an avid gardener and took pleasure in cultivation and harvest wherever space allowed. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Myrtle L. (Lusk) Blecha; sister, Phyllis Blecha, Denver, CO; daughters, Arlene Hagensicker, Overland Park, KS, and Marilyn (Jeff) Emery, Niles, MI; son, Edmund (Diane) Blecha, Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Shasta (Greg) Nelson, Kerry (Mike) Pate, Travis Hagensicker, Tiffany Blecha, Katrina (Jesse) Emery, Dustin (Autumn) Blecha, and four great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Brown’s Funeral Service, 904 N. 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501. Visitation to follow service. Byron A. Blecha, 98, Grand Junction, died Aug. 3, 2016. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Browns Cremation and Funeral Service. He was a Seventh-day Adventist minister. Survivors his wife, Myrtle L.; one son, Edmund A. of Grand Junction; two daughters, Arlene J. Hagensicker of Overland Park, Kansas, and Marilyn K. Emery of Niles, Michigan; one sister, Phyllis J. Blecha of Denver; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions to the Intermountain Adventist Academy, 1704 N. Eighth St., Grand Junction 81501; or to HopeWest, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction 81506.
