HAROLD C. HELMS.
People of this community were grieved to learn of the death of H. C. HELMS over the weekend. Mr. HELMS had not been in good health since coming to Eagle a few years ago, but only the family and close friends were aware that he was so near death.
He was afflicted with miners consumption, contracted in the mines at Cripple Creek, and was taken to Beth El hospital in Colorado Springs for treatment recently, where he passed away Thursday, Nov. 26.
Harold C. HELMS was born in Pleasant Springs, Mo., Aug. 3, 1891, where he grew to manhood. In 1910 he was married to Miss Stella LONG, and to this union one daughter, Mildred, was born. Mrs. HELMS passed away shortly after the birth of this daughter. The deceased came to Colorado in 1917, locating in the Cripple Creek district, where he engaged in mining. The following year he was married to Ruby SNOWDEN, and to this union were born four children, Harold, jr., now in the army, stationed at Camp Hood, Tex.; MaryLee, John and Billy, who together with the elder daughter, Mrs. Mildred Soderseron [sic SODERSTROM], of Ridgway, Colo., survive their father and were all present at the funeral services, held Monday in Colorado Springs, where the body was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery Monday of this week.
The HELMS family moved to Eagle in 1939, purchasing of B. F. LONG the place known as the Graham ranch, just west of town, where they have since resided.
The bereaved widow and family have the deep sympathy of the community in their loss of a beloved husband and father.
