Funeral services were held in Glenwood Thursday for Chub Downey, who died of a heart attack at his home in Basalt September 29 shortly after noon. Mr. Downey, known throughout western Colorado by sportsmen, had served with the State Game and Fish Department as warden in the Basalt district for 23 years, and the high regard held for him by personnel of the Department was evident when many officials of the Game and Fish Department came from Denver to attend his funeral, at which game wardens from the Western Slope served as pallbearers. Chub Downey was born in Basalt May 13, 1887 and he spent his 65 years in that vicinity. He was a member of the American Legion Post 83, Glenwood, a veteran of World War I, and member of the IOOF Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Fuhrman Downey, whom he married in 1941; one son, Fred A. of Glenwood, two grandsons, David and Douglas Downey and four brothers Albert of Rifle; Alex and Dave of Taylorville, Calif.; Charley of Moterine, Wash. The services were held at Burdge Funeral Chapel in Glenwood and burial was the Rosebud Cemetery in that city.
