Stella Duran passed away Tuesday at her home in Minturn. Mrs. Duran was 90.

She was born on March 26, 1920 in Las Animas, Colo. Her parents were the late Jose and Victoria Baca.

Stella married Leo J. Duran and together they moved to Del Norte, Colo., before settling in Minturn in 1950, where Leo worked at the Gilman mine and then started his own garbage hauling business.

Mrs. Duran loved to embroider and made many beautiful quilts and pillowcases. She also enjoyed cooking and raising her own vegetables and strawberries. She liked music, dancing and watching the “Golden Girls” on TV, as well as movies on Hallmark. But what Stella loved the most was her family and spending time with them.

Mrs. Duran was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Minturn and, more recently, she attended services at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Avon.

Mrs. Duran is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leo, who died in 1979.

She is survived by her daughter, Isabelle (Willie Joe) Trujillo, of Minturn; grandchildren Gloria Trujillo, Loretta (Ernest) Atencio and Kenny Trujillo; great-grandchildren Eugene, Michael and Brandy Trujillo, Joseph Ortega, Julian “Bubba” Atencio and Jennifer and Jose Morales; and great-great-grandchildren Elijah and Urijah Morales and Queiden and Aalixha Trujillo. Stella is also survived by her extended family, Sonia Morris, Nadine Nemhard and Racheal Trujillo.

Rosary will be recited on at 7 p.m. Sunday, and mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, both at St. Patrick’s Parish Center in Minturn. The Reverend Hugh Guentner will officiate.

Following Mass, Mrs. Duran will be taken to Rifle, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eugene and Michael Trujillo, Joseph Ortega, Christopher Duran, Julian Atencio and Jose Morales.
