Jesus Enamorado, known to some as "don Jesus," died March 22. He was 78.
Enamorado came to the United States in 1990 to be with his children and grandchildren, friends and family members said.
He worked in the Vail Valley for 12 years before retiring to Florida with his wife, Alma, of 54 years.
This past year, at age 77, Enamorado became a U.S. citizen. Friends and family members say he was inspired by his grandson, Lance Cpl. Evenor C. Herrera, a Gypsum resident who was killed in Iraq.
He is survived by his wife and their six children; Wilmer, Blanca, Gilma, Mario, Miriam and Nubia; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A viewing and celebration of live service was held Wednesday. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at Sunset View Cemetery.
