Maevonne Mickelsen, 80, Grand Junction, died Sept. 9, 2016,
at Larchwood Inns.
A receiving of friends will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with a
service to follow on Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
day Saints, 1st Ward, 2542 G Road in Grand Junction. Interment
will follow at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Todd of Grand Junction, Jan of
Broomfield, and Jeremy of Denver; two brothers, Dale Boice of St.
Joseph, Missouri, and Dean Boice of Alamosa; two sisters, Betty
Oba Massey of Japan and Gladys Tolbert of Denver; and five grandchildren.

Parkinson’s disease. She was
80 years old.
Maevonne was born March
6, 1936, in Romeo, Colorado.
She graduated from La Jara
High School in the San Luis Valley. After high school she went
to college at BYU then to school in Minneapolis, MN for
Laboratory Technologist.
Maevonne worked at Mercy Hospital in Durango, CO, then
Mesa Memorial Hospital in Grand Junction, CO for many years,
a short time at St. Mary’s Hospital and she retired from Family
Health West in Fruita, CO.
Maevonne’s real true loves were church, books and children,
especially her grandchildren. She demonstrated her love of
children by being a pillar of support and guidance for her
grandchildren and teaching Sunday school children until late
into her sixties, after that she was the librarian for the LDS
church she attended.
Maevonne is survived by sisters, Betty Oba Massey, and
Gladys (John) Tolbert; brothers, Dale (Loretta) Boice, and Dean
(Beverly) Boice; sons, Todd (Laura), Jan (Jennifer), and
Jeremy; grandchildren, Camron Mickelsen, Damon Mickelsen,
Fraser Fontane, Shawn Davidson and Cody Bauer. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mary Boice;
sisters, Verla Boice, and La Ree Jackson and granddaughter,
Erin Mickelsen.
Services will be held at the LDS Church at 2542 G Road in
Grand Junction on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 10:00
a.m.with burial services to follow at the Orchard Mesa
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the St. Mary’s
Hospital Neurology Clinic via the Foundation, in memory of
