WILLIAM WALTER DIES WHILE ENROUTE TO DENVER HOSPITAL
U m . Walter , another of the pioneei citizens of Eagle county , died last Sunday morning , while on a Cutoff train enroute to Denver where he was tc enter a hospita / l for treatment . His death took place somewhere between Dotsero and Hot Sulphur Springs . The body was taken off the train at the latter place , and returned to Eagle by Paul Andre of the Andre Funeral home
of Eagle . The deceasel was about 63 years old and grew from a child to manhood on a ranch on Piney creek , his stepfather , Freeman , having homesteaded what is now a part of the Ralston ranch , one of the earliest settlers in that part of the county . Mr . Walter spent most of his life here , living a few years in Arkansas after his marriage , and a year in Alaska , but always to return to Eagle county and Wolcott . He had not been in good health for two or three years and the past few weeks failed rapidly , a cancer of the bowels fast sapping his life . There are three brothers surviving him , one of whom , A . B . Walter , lives in Red Cliff .
Funeral services were held in Eaglo Thursday , and the body laid to rest in Valley View cemetery . * O _
