MRS. WM. FERGUSON DIED IN CALIFORNIA
Eagle and Gypsum friends of Elvira Anderson Ferguson, were grieved to learn of her death in a Portola, California hospital last Saturday, following an illness of several weeks. She had undergone a major operation in the Reno Hospital several weeks ago, and had neverecovered fully. Her sister Anna Anderson Magnee passed away, also in California, two months ago. Elvira R. Anderson was born Ocober 31, 1904 in Leadville. Colo and was the daughter of Gustav and Emma Anderson, one of nine children. When she was four years of age she moved from Leadville to Gypsum with her family, where she attended grammar and high school. After finishing high school she qualified as teacher and spent one yea r teaching at Bums then became a dental nurse. She met William J. Ferguson member of a railroading family, in Min turn, and later married him in Chico, California on April 28, 1923- To this union two children were bom, a son, Lewis and a daughter, Joan. The family resided in Elko, Nev-, then moved to Portola, Calif-, in 1926Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Lutheran Church, uniting with the Portola Community church- She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Portola Chapter, serving in that office in 1951. She alst was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem at Beckwith, Calif. Her parents and her sister preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, William J. Ferguson; two children, Lewis and Joan; a son-in-law, Keith Berset; one grandson, Danny, five sisters, Miss Elma Anderson, Mrs. Lillie Anderson, Mrs- Clarence Lewis, Mrs. Menial Frazier all of Gypsum and Mrs- Eldon Wilson of Eagle; and two brothers, Oscar Anderson of Gypsum and Carl Anderson of Denver. Sendees were held in Portola April 7 by the Eastern Star, and similar services were held at the Lutheran Church in Gypsum Apr 9 and burial was in the Gyosum cemetery, Rev. Delbert Pauisqn conducted funeral services in Gypsum.
