WM. H. CRAMP DIED AT EAGLE HOME, JANUARY 2
Win. H. Cramp, retired Eagle merchant died a!, his home in Eagle January 2, fol.owing an illness of sever.! weeks. Born in Litchfield' 111. May 26,1 1576 to Ezra a-J Olive Cramp, he was one of five children. He received his education in Illinois and in 1900 was wed to Sally Cramp in Carlinville, Illinois. Five years later they moved to Rifle, Colorado where he was employed in mercantile business and then moved to Glenwood Springs, employed by the Napier Clothing Co In 1928 the Cramps moved to Eagle, where Mr. Cramp opened Cramp’s Store. Shortly afterward Mrs Cramp died. July 4, 1933 Mr. Cramp and Frances Knupp were married, and they operated the store until failing health brought about Mr. Cramp’s retirement in 1951. He took an active interest in community affairs and Masonic Lodge work. He had been a member for 50 years of Rifle Lodge 129 and had a part in building the lodge temple in Rifle- During his residence in Eagle, he was a member of the school board for eight years, holding the office of president, and during his tenure of office the school gymnasium was erected. Funeral services were held In the Eagle Methodist Church January 4 and conducted by Rev. Byron Hasstedt. Bowman Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements with Masonic committal services at the Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood. The music included numbers by a male quartet, Charles Stanley, Chester Mayer, Wm. Stanley, end Melvin Eaton' accompanied toy Mrs Lola Chambers. Pallbearers were Tom Taylor, J. D. Allen, H. K Brooks, L W. Simmons, Hans Larsen and Fritz Borah, all Master Masons. More than 50 Master Masons from Rifle and Glenwood assembled at the gateway of Rosebud Cemetery and marched in a group with tile pallbearers to the grave, where they conducted the committal service. Mr. Cramp is survived by his wife, Frances; a son. Erwin Cramp of Glenwood; one brother, Logan Cramp of Urbana, Ill.: A stepson, Donald Knupp of Eagle; an adopted daughter. Mrs. Virginia Oleson of Coronado, Cal. and six «grandchildren.
