Alfred "Dutch"
Wayne Cole
October 19, 1940 - July 24, 2016
Dutch passed away at home
in the loving arms of his wife,
Dicksie, on July 24, 2016.
Dicksie cared for Dutch for
many years of declining
health due to heart and lung
disease.
Dutch was born to Albert
and Nellie (Marsh) Cole in a
small farmhouse near Reed, Colorado, and attended school at
the old Reed Schoolhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nellie
Cole; his sisters, Betty Pete and Gladys Rose, and brothers,
Albert “Sonny” Cole and Clifford Cole.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dicksie; brothers, Marvin
(Linda) Cole of Mesa, Colorado, and Larry (Kris) Cole of
DeBeque, Colorado; sisters, Carma (Leonard) Turner of Benton,
Arkansas; Sherilyn (Dale) Smith of Durango, Colorado; Carrie
(Chris) Williams of Grand Junction, Colorado, and sister-inlaw,
Joyce Cole of Grand Junction, Colorado; sons, Gorden
(Debbie) Cole of Loma, Colorado, and Alan (Elaine) Cole of
Montrose, Colorado; daughters, Shari (Kevin) Cole of Bend,
Oregon; Susan (Jerry) Bingham of Delta, Colorado, and Sarah
(Robert) Neely of Grand Junction, Colorado, as well as 15
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and also numerous aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In 1959, Dutch Cole met the love of his life, Dicksie Edson.
They were married on September 8, 1959, in Durango,
Colorado. They were inseparable for over 56 years of marriage.
Dutch enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for
four years in Mountain Home, Idaho. Although he drove a truck
for several years his “true passion” was being a Cowboy. He
cherished every moment he spent in the mountains of Colorado
and spending time with his family, whom he loved with all of
his heart.
Our hearts are heavy with grief and we will always cherish the
memories of our late husband, father, grandpa, papa, uncle, and
friend.
