August 8, 1944 - October 8, 2016
Douglas Lee Green passed away peacefully at his home on October 8th, 2016, in Grand Junction, CO.
Doug was born August 8th, 1944, to Harold and Elizabeth Green in Telluride, Colorado.
He enjoyed his childhood in Telluride until moving to Grand Junction at age 11. In the summers he returned to
Telluride to visit his grandparents and work. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1962.
He enlisted in the National Guard and served six years until his
Honorable Discharge in 1971. Doug worked in the construction
business from an early age starting with Macco and retiring with TIC in 2001. Doug married Darlene Hike in 1968, and they had two daughters, Dina and Darshay. Doug and Darlene divorced in 1976 but remained close friends.
Doug met Patty Thompson in 1981 while they were both
employed by TIC. They enjoyed a life on the road and working
many different projects around the United States.
Doug is survived by his longtime partner, Patty Thompson; exwife, Darlene Green; children, Darshay Green and Dina
McElley (Doug Weddell); grandchild, Nik McElley; siblings;
Evelyn Coleman (Jerry), Sharon McKay, Daymon Green and
Joe Green (Shawna); a host of nieces and nephews; his extended
family with Patty, Daman Thompson, Tara Thompson
(deceased), Daman Thompson Jr., Corie and Scott Sherman and several great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, Danny Green, and parents, Harold and Elizabeth Green.
Doug enjoyed his time off completing home projects, camping,
riding ATVs, boating, fishing, and watching sporting events. He
was a devoted father, friend, son, and uncle. He was an amazing
man, a diligent worker, had a keen memory and a great sense of humor. Through the years, he touched many lives and we will never be the same without him. Dad, you are missed by so
many! We love you!
