Donald Dean Williamson
passed away September 18,
2016, surrounded by a
constant vigil by his family.
Donald was born February
24th, 1920, to Elmer and
Ethel Williamson, in
Longmont, Colorado. He
married Agnes Lavone
Mattingly February 24th, 1939; together they had five children.
Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War ll as a Fireman
1st Class on the USS Cassin Young. Donald worked for Corn
Construction for 20 years, and was also a member of the
Operating Engineers #9 for 73 years.
His grandchildren’s favorite memories were filled with BBQ’s
and “Grandpa” firing up the riding lawn mower and dragging
his grandchildren all behind in a little Red Wagon. Donald was
a constant tinkerer. He could be found most evenings in his
shop, welding masterful pieces of art or handcrafting amazing
knives, to which he gifted each child and grandchild. We all
treasure these valuable heirlooms, none more valuable than the
time we shared with “Grandpa”.
Donald is survived by his loving companion, Isabella
Summers; sons, Mark (Janie) and Edward (Vickie) Williamson,
both of Moab, Utah; daughters-in-law, Diana (Brian, deceased),
Pam, and Theresa (Cedar Hawks) (Donald Jr. deceased); 13
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; two sons, Donald
Jr. and Brian; daughter, Jeannette Bailey; son-in-law, Jack
Bailey, and grandson, Jason Bailey.
A service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Friday,
September 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., 2515 Patterson Road.
Gravesides services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Palisade
Municipal Cemetery, 3529 Front Street.
