George Gillian
Services for former Eagle County resident George L. Gillian, 87, were Feb. 12 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. He died Feb. 9 at Mesa, Ariz.
Mr. Gillian and his wife, Ann, lived at Gilman for many years. He worked as a supervisor in the New Jersey Zinc Co. mill until his transfer to Tennessee in 1957. He was active in local and state offices of the American Legion and the 40 and 8 organizations.
Mrs. Gillian, who died in 1975, was the sister of Joe Chockle, who lived in the Sweetwater and Colorado River communities.
The Gillians also lived in Lakewood before moving to Arizona. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a supervisor and member of American Legion Post No. 178 in Lakewood.
Mr. Gillian is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7337 N. 19th Ave., Phoenix, Ariz.
