Our family Matriarch,
Evelyn Lenora (McPeak)
Todd, was born January 13,
1917, to Hugh and Laura
(Young) McPeak in Anton,
Colorado. Her journey ended
September 21, 2016.
On February 9, 1937, she
married Virgil Vernon Todd.
Their marriage brought them three children, Beverly Rose,
Betty Lou, and Dallas Gene.
A school teacher by trade she retired after 29 years, 14 of them
in District 51, with the last seven years at Loma Elementary.
Evelyn’s faith and love for the Lord was foremost in her life.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She
enjoyed crocheting, cooking, music, church activities,
volunteering, and tutoring. She was famous for making the
annual family calendars. Her entire family has fond memories of
her playing the organ, piano, or violin while singing a beloved
hymn.
She is survived by her children, Beverly (Ronald) Brent of
Arriba, Colorado; Betty Crow of Fruita, Colorado, and Dallas
(Jackie) Todd of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister, Helen Axtell
of Broomfield, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren,
and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Todd;
sisters, Geneva and Leora; brother, Harvey; grandsons, Reginald
and Aaron Crow, and Stanley Brent, and son-in-law, Gordon
Crow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Evelyn’s name to
She Has A Name, 755 N 4th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501,
a non-profit organization founded by her great-granddaughter in
the hopes of changing poverty-based prostitution one story at a
time.
Viewing will be from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, at
Callahan-Edfast in Grand Junction. Memorial Service will be
Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Heart of Junction Church, 755 N 4th
Street, Grand Junction. Burial will take place Tuesday at 11:00
a.m. in Akron, Colorado.
