Carmen Rosalie (Stoelting) Morris, 88, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017, in her home at Castle Peak in Eagle. Carmen was born to parents Clara and Hubert Stoelting on Dec. 18, 1928, in Circle, Montana, and lived her childhood in Hazen, North Dakota. She is predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Douglas Stoelting and Thomas Stoelting; and her sister, Phyllis (Stoelting) Reed and niece Melissa Reed.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce (Sandy) Stoelting, of Great Falls, Montana; her three loving children, Chris (Pelle) Mueller-Eklund, of Edwards; Kurt (Barbara) Mueller, and Brett (Betsy) Mueller, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Sarah, Noel, Tess, Karl, Leia and Emma; six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and two sisters in-law. Last but not least is her beloved dog, Riley.

Carmen touched the lives of countless friends through her love of knitting and her fun-filled career and retirement from Marshall Fields. Her feisty and competitive spirit followed her on the golf course and the card table, playing gin with family or taking top honors at bridge. She remembered playing basketball at Hazen High School and continued her enthusiasm watching her favorite basketball team, the Chicago Bulls.

She loved to get out on the dance floor and dance until her feet ached. She had a sense of adventure, whether it was driving her fast sport cars or traveling with her husband, Ralph. But she will say that her most important accomplishment was loving and raising three wonderful children that made her most proud. She knew she had been "dealt a lucky hand" and never forgot her humble beginnings.

A private memorial gathering will be held later when Carmen will be interred next to her late husband, Ralph Morris, in Barrington, Illinois. If you'd like to do something in her memory, then please donate to your local animal shelter or treat yourself to a manicure using hot-pink nail polish, her favorite color, and know Carmen would lovingly approve.
