Michael “Mike” Owen Wells, 68, Vernal, Utah, died Oct. 27, 2016, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Junction.Services are being planned for spring 2017. He worked as a derrick hand in the oil fields for 25 years.He is survived by two sons, Joshua Michael and Charles Elliot; three daughters, Sarah Jane Wells, Stacy Dee Wells Miller and Car-ly Ann Wells; one sister, Penny Lamb; and 10 grandchildren.

Born in Long Beach,
California to Carl Lee "Rusty"
Wells and Alice Kathryn
Berry Wells on September 22,
1948, Mike attended and
graduated from Tehachapi
High School in Tehachapi,
CA. Following graduation, he
enlisted in the Army and was
deployed to Vietnam where
he served from 1967 - 1968.
During this time he was with
the 1st Air Cav C Company.
He received the Purple Heart,
Bronze Star, and several other
merits based on his honorable
service. Upon returning from
Vietnam, he was employed in
the oilfield industry working
in the lower 48 and Alaska.
He married Wanda Faye Stroub and from this union Sarah Jane
Wells, Stacy Dee Wells Miller, and Joshua Michael Wells were
born. They later divorced.
Michael then married Laura Lee Becker and from this union
Carly Ann Wells and Charles Elliott Wells were born. They later
divorced.
Mike worked for Unocal in Parachute, Colorado and later
became a CNA. He loved fishing with his dad in Alaska or
anywhere. He spent time riding his Harley Davidson with his
"brothers". Mike enjoyed singing, playing music and spending
time with family and friends. He was a very social and friendly
soul who never knew a stranger.
Mike lived in Colorado, Texas, and Vernal, UT.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Douglas B.
Kingsbury and sister, Caralee Finning. He is survived by sister,
Penny Dee Lamb; children, Sarah Wells, Stacy Wells Miller,
Joshua Wells, Carly Wells and Charles Wells, and ten
grandchildren.
Services will take place on Friday, May 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the
Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
