It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, Johnny Phillip Medina, 65, of Chester, Massachusetts, formerly of Red Cliff. Johnny was called home on July 17, 2017.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jeanne; daughter Janelle (Samuel) Ladenburger, of Arizona; sons John Michael (Wraylene) McCauley, of Colorado; Jeffery (Bethany) Sharratt, of Pennsylvania; Joseph (Kaitlin) Medina, of Pennsylvania; and honorary son Jesse Epperson, of Colorado; eight grandchildren; father, Eloy W. Medina, of Battlement Mesa; brother, Larry (Alice) Medina, of Grand Junction; sisters, Luann (Mario) Varela, of Battlement Mesa, and Berta Pacheco, of Grand Junction; along with many other family members and friends.
Johnny's faith was tested with multiple health issues, including two liver transplants and, most recently, cancer. He is remembered by everyone for his positive attitude, selflessness, wit and always a big smile, no matter what struggle he faced. He was a true warrior of Christ and left it all in God's hands and God's will. Heaven received the most amazing man.
Johnny was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. His hobbies included everything outdoors, fishing, hunting, working in the yard and spending time with his grandchildren. Johnny was predeceased by his mother, Martha (1999), brother Tommy (1986), sister Wilma (2014) and brother-in-law Bobby Pacheco (2016).
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 215 Capitol St., Eagle, with refreshments at Eagle Town Park following the service.
