Dr. Fred Ray Beyeler DVM

Dr. Fred Beyeler passed away December 29, 2016 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Junction after a long illness, he was 85.
Dr. Beyeler was born on May 9, 1931 in Cortland, and graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He owned and
practiced at Lower Valley Veterinary Clinic in Fruita until his
retirement at age eighty. He was an honorably discharged Army
veteran serving in Korea with the 79th Corps of Engineers.
Fred married Clara Beyeler in May 19, 1973 in Las Vegas,
Nevada and she survives. Dr. Beyeler previously lived in the
Moab, Utah and Cortland, New York area and has lived in the
Fruita community for the last 44 years.
He was a past Fruita Chamber of Commerce President and
Grand Master of the Fruita Fall Festival, Master of the Fruita
Masonic Lodge and Lifetime member of the Grand Valley
Combined Honor Guard. He was an Exalted Ruler of the Elks in
Moab, Utah, and Lifetime Member and Commander of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars. Fred also was a former Grand County Commissioner in Utah and a Lions Club member.
Dr. Beyeler leaves behind his wife of 43 years; Clara Beyeler
of Fruita, Colorado; a son, Arnold Beyeler of Jacksonville,
Florida; a step-daughter, Janie Fix of Kissimmee, Florida; three
grandchildren, Heather Fredericks of Easton, Pennsylvania,
Jordan and Brady Beyeler; and five great-grandchildren.
Military honors will take place at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 5,
2017 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

Dr. Fred Ray Beyeler, DVM

Dr. Fred Beyeler, Fruita, Colorado community member for the last 44 years, passed away December 29, 2016, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Junction after a long illness, he was 85.
Dr. Beyeler was born on May 9, 1931, in Cortland, New York from the union of John and Katherine Beyeler. The family moved to Fruita, Colorado in 1945 and he graduated from Fruita Union High School in 1947. After high school he graduated from Mesa Junior College before serving two years in the United States Army serving in Korea with the 79th Corps of Engineers and being discharged as a Sargent.
He returned to New York after military service and graduated
from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with a Doctorate
of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced veterinary medicine in
Maryland and then Moab, Utah before moving back to Fruita in
1973. He owned and practiced at Lower Valley Veterinary Clinic
in Fruita until his retirement at age 80. His clients were also his
friends.
He was a board member of Grand Valley Irrigation Co. for 23
years before retiring, many of those years serving as Vice-
President. At one time he was an Elmwood Ditch Co. secretary
treasurer. He was a past Fruita Chamber of Commerce President and Grand Master of the Fruita Fall Festival, Master of the Fruita Masonic Lodge and Lifetime member of the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard. He was an Exalted Ruler of the

Fred Ray Beyeler, 85, Fruita, died Dec. 29, 2016, at the Grand
Junction Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
He was a veterinarian.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; one son, Arnold of Jacksonville,
Florida; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
