Hazel Pacheco Branom
June 27, 1919 - December 28, 2016
Hazel Pacheco Branom, a resident of Grand Junction, Colorado since 1994, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at her residence. She was 97 years of age.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss,
Colorado.
Mrs. Branom was born on June 27, 1919, in Hochkiss,
Colorado to Kittie and Abe Pacheco. She lived in Hotchkiss
until 1994, when she moved to Grand Junction.
She graduated from Hotchkiss High School with the class of
1938. She worked at the North Fork Creamery Association for
17 years. She then worked for the Neill Agency, later becoming
manager of The Hotchkiss Community Federal Credit Union for
25 years.
Hazel married Lester "Speck" Branom on January 11, 1948; he
preceded her in death on September 28, 1988.
Hazel was an active member of the Hotchkiss United
Methodist Church, serving on many church boards and singing
in the choir. She joined the Hotchkiss Eastern Star Chapter on
June 27, 1950, where she held many offices and she and her
husband were Matron and Patron in 1959 - 1960. She received
her 50 year pin on June 27, 2000.
Hazel devoted many years visiting and caring for many retired
friends in Hotchkiss and helped anyone who needed her. She
enjoyed her church, Eastern Star, working on her computer and
making arrangements for many of her class reunions.
In addition to her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her
parents, Abe and Kittie Pacheco; three sisters, Margaret Dove,
Lillie Flynn, and Mary Dove, and three brothers, Clyde
Pacheco, Harry Phillips and Tom Phillips.
Hazel is survived by a sister-in-law, Zee Pacheco of Austin,
Colorado and many wonderful nieces and nephew, whom she
dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers, Hazel requested memorial contributions to
be made to the North Fork Ambulance Association, PO Box
127, Hotchkiss, CO, 81419, or to the Hotchkiss Library, or to
HopeWest Hospice, PO Box 24, Delta, CO 81416 or to the
charity of one’s choice.
