Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 8A Obituary - February 3, 2017

John J. Arnhold, of Grand
Junction, Colorado passed
away in the early morning of
February 1, 2017.
He was born July 31, 1928,
in Victoria, Kansas where, as
a teenager, he began
roughnecking in the oil fields.
He married Frances Karlin
May 25, 1948. Together with
their children, they moved
around the country as John worked in the oil and gas industry.
In 1965, they moved to Grand Junction. They became
members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where
they long enjoyed the services of Father Plough. For five years,
John traveled to Alaska to work on the pipeline. After his work
in Alaska, he opened Arnhold Welding and Fabricating. Among
the fine work produced by his business, John built rig up trucks,
some of which were for Alaska, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. He
invented a valve that is still being used in oil fields today, and
he designed a hazmat truck for the Grand Junction Fire
Department. Even after retirement, John remained active in
helping his many friends in the oil and gas industry.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Steve (Susie),
Paul (Marcia), Fred, Lois (Bob), and Tom; his sister, Juanita;
several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-greatgranddaughter.
His family would like to thank hospice for the wonderful care
they gave him.
Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m.
at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 790 26 ½ Rd.
Grand Junction, Colorado 81506.
