Mary Fairlamb Dow, age 77,
was born in Delta, Colorado
on January 4, 1940, the third
daughter of Sam and Esther
Fairlamb. She shared a
birthday with her oldest sister,
Jan, born on the same day,
eleven years earlier.
Mary attended school in
Delta and graduated in 1958.
She then attended college at
Colorado State University and Western State University.
She was married in 1962 in Delta and moved to Denver where
she raised her two children. She also pursued a career as an
office manager.
In 2008, she returned to Delta where she immediately became
involved in civic activities. Her volunteer work included many
activities with Altrusa and she served as their treasurer. She was
also on the Board of Trustees for the Delta County Historical
Society and was an active member of the Methodist Church, she
served on various committees.
Mary is survived by her two children, Scott Dow of Ft. Collins
and Kim Nolan of Denver; granddaughter, Peyton Nolan and
sister and brother-in-law, Meredith and Hugh Larsen of San
Diego.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Mary on Sunday,
February 5, 2107, in the Annex of the Methodist Church on the
corner of 5th and Meeker Street, Delta, Colorado from 1 - 3:00
p.m. Please join us.
Mary was a bright spot in the lives of those who knew her,
with a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit that will be
missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Delta County Historical
Society or the Methodist Church would be appreciated.
