Gene Aragon, 56, passed away peacefully January 6, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his five children.
Gene was born on June 7, 1960, to George and Orlinda Aragon in Delta, Colorado. In 1969 Gene moved to Grand Junction where he graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1978.
In 1978 Gene made the honorable decision to join the United
States Navy as an aircraft ground support. He proudly served his country for nine years; four years on the USS Eisenhower,
stationed out of Norfolk, VA; three years at Cecil field in
Jacksonville, FL; and finally, two years in the USS Ranger.
Once returning to the States in 1988; he met Yvonne Willis and
her son in California. Eventually Gene and Yvonne welcomed
four more children throughout their 13 years of being together
and returning to Grand Junction in 1998 to make it their home
and raise their children.
Geno was a hardworking man for 20 years in the concrete
business. His hobbies included camping, fishing, Harley’s, old
Chevy trucks, plotting pranks on his loved ones, and being a
single father for 16 years.
Gene is survived by his five children, Mike Eide, Jessica
(Alfredo) Esparza, Gina, Roberto, and Sedena Aragon; three
grandchildren, Rosendo, Yzavel, and Yessenia Esparza; exwife,
Yvonne Willis; parents, George and Orlinda Argon;
younger brother, Carlos (Lucille) Aragon, all of Grand Junction,
Colorado; older brother, Pat (Dawn) Aragon of Cedar City,
Utah, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Lloyd; niece, Linda, and nephews, Junior and Joey.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017,
at 3:30 p.m. at Grand Valley Funeral Homes, Grand Junction
Chapel, 1022 Grand Avenue. A pot luck dinner will follow at
VFW post 1247, 1404 Ute Avenue.
