On Thursday, February 2,
2017, after a courageous
struggle with COPD, Judith L.
Richardson went home to our
heavenly father.
Judie was born on March 27,
1939, in Front Royal, VA to
Thomas and Marian Long.
She attended school in
Warren County, VA and
graduated from medical
secretarial school in 1968. She worked in the E.R. then began a
career in security with Wells Fargo Security and became their
first female Sargent in 1972. That career path led her to become
a decorated dispatcher for Homeland Security when she
coordinated several Federal agencies to defuse a bomb at a
Federal Courthouse. After retirement she worked as hostess for
her oldest son when he managed Junction Square Pizza in
Grand Junction, CO.
Her interests included her family and friends. Her deep
devotion to Jesus Christ. Country music was a major part of her
life and she had a beautiful voice.She enjoyed taking and
sharing pictures. She also collected bells and angels.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and
beloved brother, Richards.
She is survived by brothers, Jerry (Nancy) Long and Edward
(Jan)) Long; sisters, Millie (Dennis) Groenke and Jeannie
Stoots. She is also survived by sons and daughter, Michael
Richardson; Sheli (Jay) Rhoades, and Clint (Debbie)
Richardson, and Tony (Penny)Richardson. She was proud
Grandma to 16, great-grandma to 11 and she had one great-greatgranddaughter.
She also will be missed by many friends who
she considers family.
Services are at Grand Valley Funeral Home, 1022 Grand Ave.
on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with a viewing from 11 - 12:30
p.m., when her services commence. Graveside services are at
the Grand Valley Memorial Gardens, 2970 North Ave, 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victory
Junction Camp and local hospice care.
